A Quiet Place
A Quiet Place
is a rigorously monitored and evaluated programme with an evidence
base showing change in children’s behaviour that is extremely
effective. (Educational and Child Psychology Vol.22 No. 3)
It is inclusive
and holistic in it’s approach with techniques both traditional
and complimentary that support all involved, the child, parent,
and staff in a partnership for change, a personal development programme
that uses an educational model that is non-stigmatised and based
in the present. As a personal development programme it is applicable
in all areas and including working in Children’s Homes with
Looked After Children as well as with young adults with severe learning
difficulties.

Children are referred by
teachers, parents and after a while through self referral for introvert
or extrovert behaviour. The facilitator liaises with parents and
teacher and with full participation from the child in order to identify
an outcome based on Emotional well being. In addition to providing
individual case support, the whole school benefits from a rolling
programme of small group relaxation or story in the room and Breathing
Space (Circle Time) training within the classroom.
