Case Study : Plessington Catholic High School Technical College

The Peak Performance Programme

The Peak Performance programme is based on this scientific research and has been shown to impact a wide variety of health and business performance indicators.

Psychometric Results

Prior to attending the course, all participants completed an extensive psychometric questionnaire, the Personal and Organisational Quality Assessment (POQA). The POQA addresses individual and business performance issues. It has 58 items scaled to represent 12 constructs. There are five potential responses to each question, ranging from almost never, rarely, occasionally, often or most of the time; or alternatively from strongly disagree, disagree, neutral, agree or strongly agree. The POQA was repeated after six weeks to determine the impact of the Peak Performance programme. The main findings of the POQA are presented below in the form of a table.

General Health Questionnaire

GHQ-12 (General Health Questionnaire) is a thoroughly tried and tested self-paced measurement tool, which has been used in the Health Survey for England (1995) and indicates psychological morbidity.

Respondents are grouped according to their score as follows:

Score Range

Explanation

0 – 2

Low Risk

3 – 5

Mild Risk

6 – 8

Moderate Risk

9 – 12

Severe Risk

Additionally, users are grouped into either Non-stressed cases where they score less than 3 or Stressed Cases where they score greater than 3.

Hospital Anxiety and Depression

Hospital Anxiety and Depression (HAD) scale questionnaire is a sensitive screening tool.   Although designed for hospital general medical Outpatients, it has been extensively used in General Health Care. Questions seek either to determine depression or anxiety.   A score of 8 or more is significant, a score of 11 or more highly significant.   Hunter Kane represents the % of individuals who score 10 or more.
