Management Development

One of the fundamental issues for Managers today is that many have not been able fully to develop their people-management skills and experience.  The reasons are numerous, but a major factor has been the high rate of growth in recent years.

The primary need is for the management of fast growing businesses to maximise market share and to establish long term business relationships with key strategic major clients.

Many of the more successful companies have achieved their growth in revenues, profits and market share whilst at the same time establishing a professional image and effective operational infrastructure.  The business demands throughout have been operationally significant and, as a result, the opportunity for in-depth development of their people skills, has not been readily available.

Increased Demand on Management

The immediate impact has been to cause companies to reduce costs and in particular, people-costs through the process of downsizing and reorganisation.  There has been a major focus in the reduction of Management layers, which in turn has led to the subsequent reduction in excess staff.

Not only does this place greater demands upon Managers to be more effective in managing the business, but it has created the need for Managers to be more effective in the management and motivation of their staff.

The demand for a more Customer and Quality oriented approach means that decision making and responsibility has been delegated down through the organisation so that all members of staff can now directly influence and impact the image and effectiveness of their company.

The need for Managers to be highly effective in the management of not only their business and their staff has never been greater.

Programme Style

The basis of this Programme is Experiential Learning where Managers work in a small group environment and share experiences by using practical exercises based upon their current real life issues.  The majority of these issues will be derived from the Performance Management process arising out of their on-going review meetings with staff. This will enable them to improve their performance and will have an impact on live business issues.

The Programme is based upon seven Modules of Management, with formal training, practical exercises, feedback and group coaching.  These are:

  • Managing Performance
  • Coaching for Effective Performance
  • Motivating Through Delegation
  • Developing the Higher Performer
  • Influencing Laterally and Vertically
  • Addressing Performance Issues
  • Overcoming Performance Issues
